The Reader’s Digest reports on the Crisis Response Team with an in-depth interview of Program Director, Joe Avalos. In the interview, Joe recounts a 2012 CRT response to fatal traffic collision that killed two people. “We wake up at all hours of the night to be with people at the worst moment of their lives,” Joe says in the interview.

About the CRT

The Mayor’s Crisis Response Team (CRT) is a volunteer organization committed to providing resources and support to survivors of crisis situations in the City of Los Angeles. The CRT is managed by the Mayor's Office of Public Safety and overseen by the Office of Mayor Karen Bass.
