Resources

When responding to the scene of an incident, the Mayor’s Crisis Response Team will provide survivors with resources to aide them in the initial steps towards recovery.  These resources will vary from one incident to the next depending on the type of response and the survivor’s need.  Below is a comprehensive list of resources available to the public.


 
1736 Family Crisis Center
The 1736 Family Crisis Center responds to the growing needs of victims of domestic violence, runaway and homeless youth, homeless families, unemployed adults and youth, and other low-income community members in need of assistance.

2-1-1, Los Angeles County Information Line
211 is one of the largest and most effective resource lines in the nation providing access to comprehensive social services and disaster support for L.A. County residents. Dial "211" from any LA-based landline or cellphone.

Comfort Zone Camp
Comfort Zone is a bereavement camp that transforms the lives of children who have experienced the death of a parent, sibling, or primary caregiver. The free camps include confidence building programs and age-based support groups that break the emotional isolation that grief often brings. Comfort Zone Camps are offered to children 7-17.

Compassionate Friends
When a child dies, at any age, the family suffers intense pain and may feel hopeless and isolated. The Compassionate Friends provides highly personal comfort, hope, and support to every family experiencing the death of a son or a daughter, a brother or a sister, or a grandchild, and helps others better assist the grieving family.

Coroner, Los Angeles County Department of the Coroner
The Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner is mandated by law to inquire into and determine the circumstances, manner, and cause of all violent, sudden, or unusual deaths occurring within Los Angeles County, including all homicides, suicides, accidental deaths, and natural deaths where the decedent has not seen a physician within 20 days prior to death. Didi Hirsch - Survivors After Suicide
Surviving the suicide of someone close to you is one of the most traumatic experiences a person will ever endure. The Survivors After Suicide (SAS) program at Didi Hirsch Mental Health Services has been helping survivors find their way since 1980. Their hotline is available 24/7.

Domestic Abuse Resistance Team (DART)
DART teams pair trained civilian advocates with LAPD police officers and respond to reported incidents of domestic violence. The team offers victims and their families an array of services and critical interventions.

Domestic Violence Hotline
The Los Angeles County Domestic Violence Council provides leadership in the creation and support of a victim/survivor-centered approach to educate, prevent, and respond to domestic/intimate partner violence. (24-hours)

Our House - Los Angeles
Grief support groups create a warm environment of safety and comfort in which children, teens, and adults find the support they need from others who have also experienced the death of someone close.
