The Mayor’s Crisis Response Team has certified and deputized American Miniature Horses to provide emotional support to victims of Trauma.
Victoria Nodiff-Netanel, Steve Sullivan and her five therapy horses, Belle, Valor, Willow, Pearl and Sky, will be working with the Crisis Response Team (CRT), managed by the Mayors Office of Public Safety in collaboration with the Los Angeles Police & Los Angeles Fire Departments. We hope to have the horses accompany us out in the field for large scale incidents with victims who would benefit from this type of therapy
Here is a perfect example of the work that we do. This is a 95 year-old man who needed to take his daily walk even though he was several feet away from a crime scene. CRT walked him to the corner and back helping him continue on with his daily routine giving him a sense of normalcy amidst the chaos in his neighborhood. CRT restored a sense of calm and safety, while empowering him in his daily routine.
LA Times spent a few nights with our CRT volunteers to get an idea what it’s like providing support for individuals in need.

Many thanks to Soumya Karlamangla for coming out and meeting the team.
